Text Box: Emerald City Scene’s Mission:
Emerald City Scene is a not-for-profit theatre production company dedicated to the exploration of Human Understanding.
Our goal is to further understand the cognitive and perceptive processes of the human brain, and enhance the perceived qualities of action to create the deepest connection possible between the audience and action.
Through our productions, we will entertain and affect by examining and employing new explorative techniques concerning the way audiences process information.
Our work is artistic in nature, scientific in method, and all together human in presentation.

About Emerald City Scene:

Emerald City Scene was started in 2006 by a group of 20 some UW School of Drama graduates & students as a theatre & film company focusing on enveloping the audience in the world of the play/film.  The first ECS production was “No Exit” by Jean-Paul Sartre, directed by founding member Ben Rapson, in January 2007.  Following, in March 2007,was an original work by founding member Joe Mangialardi, “Internal Monologue,” which then went on to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In the summer of 2007, ECS filmed “The Perception Suite”, a film comprised of four short films from varying perspectives.

After finishing the 2nd season, Emerald City Scene took a year-long hiatus, reforming in early 2009 with a new structure and revised mission, focusing on the psychological effects of theatre on audiences, and moving the focus solely on theatre rather than theatre & film.
